History of Big Blue Sky Tours

Big Blue Sky Tours was founded in August 2000. Within five years it had become a small but established brand in the ever-growing South African tourism industry. Growth in the client base has largely been via word of mouth recommendation and repeat visits to areas where we operate.

There are a million ways to catch a glimpse of Cape Town. This brilliant video is just one. If you’d like more than a glimpse, get in touch and let’s start planning your tour.

Why Big Blue Sky Tours is Best

  1. 25 years of experience in Cape touring has meant that this company is able to offer almost unlimited variety in catering to clients’ requirements.

  2. Every itinerary is personally crafted by MD John Lawrence. Every itinerary is an initial proposal, sent to the prospective guests for their approval or suggested amendments. Guests’ requests are always integrated into the final itinerary, if at all possible.

  3. Over the years, we have developed very good relationships with management and staff at hotels, restaurants and wine estates. We use this advantage in our guests’ best interests.

  4. This company employs as guiding staff a group of exceptional people who go out of their way to entertain, inform and care for our guests. We are particularly caring of our more mature clientel, many of whom often require special favours while en route (example pharmacy visits). All guides are fully accredited and licenced.

  5. Vehicles are late-model, comfortable and roadworthy, and allocated on a strictly private basis. This means that guests’ have the privilege of requesting changes to hotel pick-up and drop-off times, and small deviations from the planned routes. In these vehicles guests never feel crowded or crushed, and there is enormous loading capacity for luggage.

  6. The company employs a “Meet & Greet” agent at the Cape Town International Airport to ensure guests have a warm and efficient welcome on arrival.

  7. The Managing Director: John Lawrence, with his long life in Southern Africa (and his background in education) has a very easy rapport with guests from every corner of the world. He has an extremely broad general knowledge which makes him a pleasure to converse with over a wide range of topics. He is also a great listener! In addition he has of course a vast knowledge of the history of the Cape region and of the broader South Africa, and an in-depth knowledge of the famous flora and fauna of the Western Cape.

  8. Administration: All admin is the responsibility of the Operations Manager. This is done timeously and in a friendly manner, with Swiss efficiency! We always endeavour to respond to requests with warm and personal responses, and welcome any ongoing dialogue in ensuing communications.
